India Regular Visa Application Process

Indian Regular visa applications have a long term period of 6 months / 1 year / 5 years or 10 years Indian visa for the Student / Intern / film / for Employment / Business or frequent traveller who plan for multiple visits to India.

All Individual Regular visa applications can be made online. All applicants requested to apply through online application first in order to make an application for getting the Indian Regular Visa.

The Indian government does not accept hand written application forms any more.

The application form is only completed online in all respects and should be submitted successfully at the concerned Indian Visa Application Center. And You should schedule an interview along with the requisite supporting documents.

There are three steps for the Regular Visa Application Form Process.

  1. The first step is to apply online and get a regular visa application form by mail.
  2. The second step is to submit your application form and documents at the Indian Mission or Visa Application Centre.
  3. The third step is to collect your Passport/visa from the Indian Mission, Visa Application Centre, or by post.

Note: Once you fill out your Indian regular visa application form and submit it, Applicant will receive the application form by email. You will need to print and sign the form to submit your application along with the physical copy of all the required documents and passport at IVAC (Indian Visa Application Center). You can also submit these at the Indian Mission on your appointment date.

Indian Regular VIsa Application Form Online:

  • Those foreigners interested in visiting India can use this India regular visa application form to apply for a visa.
  • One application form per person only. If you have other people in your group visiting with you to the country, they will need to submit separate forms
  • Provide correct information while filling the application form especially; Name, Date Of Birth, and Address
  • You need to verify your application form before submitting it. You can have an option for saving your application form, and it cannot be submitted just in case.
  • You cannot modify the application form once submitted. You need to validate the provided details before submitting the online application form.
  • Once submitted, you will need to keep the auto-generated Application ID for further communications.

Process of filling up online application form:

  • The online visa application can be accessed with this website.
  • You can visit the website from the link above and can select any Indian Mission from where you want to apply for the Visa from the Select Mission tab
  • You have to fill up the application line by line set by the Ministry.
  • An Application ID should be automatically generated after you submit the Application form. You need to keep this ID for further communications.
  • Once you have completed the form with all the required information and uploaded the photo and passport. it will take you to the visa payment page. You have to pay to process your Indian visa regular application form.
  • The application form will be process once you complete the payment successfully and we will notify you of the status via email or You can Check status through Indian visa application status
  • May you have to pay two types of fee, once for an online visa application form and second to Indian Mission.
  • You will need to make the payment and submit all the relevant documents at the concerned Indian Mission if the e-Payment or Appointment Scheduling is not available at the concerned Indian Mission.
  • For the Indian Mission abroad, the e-Payment facility is not available. If the facility is not available, kindly submit the fees of your application form in either Mission directly or at the outsourcing agency.

Document Requirements to Online Process:

The document requirements for the online submission of visa application form are as follows:

Digital Photograph:

You should submit a recent image of your photo that is colored. You will upload it as you fill the form. It is important that the size of your photograph matches with the recommended one. Otherwise, you may be unable to upload it. SOme photo requirements are:

  • You will need to upload your digital photograph on your Online India Visa Application form to complete the regular Visa Application.
  • Following Indian visa photo requirements must be met while uploading your digital photograph:
  • The format should be JPEG, and the size should be a minimum of 10 kb and a maximum of 300 kb
  • Equal width and height
  • The photo must completely show your entire face; eyes open, Full face, from view.
  • The full head from the bottom of the chin to the top of the hair should be in the frame.
  • A plain white or light-colored background.
  • Avoid any shadows in the background or on your face
  • No borders
  • Ensure that the photo completely presents all of your face, from the top of your hair to the bottom of your chin.
  • The measurement of the face should be 1 inch to 1-3/8 inches, and the eye height should be between 1-1/8 inches to 1-3

You should take a quality scan copy that clearly shows your details, especially the name. The passport you scan should have at least a validity of six months and two blank pages. Without this, getting the e-visa may be problematic.

India Regular Visa Application Form Processing Time:

When you receive the receipt from the Indian Visa Application Centre or directly from the post/Indian Mission, the required time for processing can take a minimum of 3 working days. The Visa will be issued depending on your nationality and excluding special cases.

Documents required to submit your application Indian Mission or Visa Application Center:

Following are the documents which you must provide while applying for your regular VISA at the consular office.

  • copy of duly filled in and signed online visa application form.
  • Original passport of the applicant, as well as a copy of passport (only biographical pages), and existing visa, if any.
  • Copy of address proof (Driver’s license/ utility bill or lease agreement in the name of applicant or parents in case of minor applicant).
  • Copy of Birth Certificate of the child (if applicable).
  • Marriage Certificate of parents (in case of minor applicant).
  • In case of minor applicants, Notarized Parental authorization form, duly signed by both the parents, with copies of their passports.

It may be noted that it could take up to 5 business days (longer in certain cases) for processing of the visa on receipt of the application in the Consulate, subject to complete submission of documents. Applicants are advised not to finalize travel arrangements prior to issuance of visa. It may be noted that incomplete applications will be returned without issuance of visa.

Appointment Scheduling

  • The appointment can be scheduled with the concerned Indian Mission at your convenience.
  • Separate appointments should be scheduled for each person.
  • There is no refund of the service fee once it has been paid to schedule an appointment. You can reschedule twice.
  • A reschedule can be done up to 48 hours before the scheduled appointment time and date.
  • Even if you decide not to submit an application or decide to send it by mail instead, once you've paid the VFS service fee you will not be able to reclaim or adjust it. Refunds can be requested for any additional value-add services that you are not utilizing.
  • As there is limited availability of appointment slots, if the earliest appointment date of your choice is not available, you can apply through the postal method.
  • You will have to pay the chargeback penalty imposed by the credit card company if you apply for a chargeback through your bank or credit card company.
  • The VFS service fee will not be refunded if your application is incomplete or is rejected because of deficiencies. You will have the option of making a fresh payment and either sending your application by post or scheduling another appointment.

By submitting my application to the VFS Indian Consular application center, I agree to comply with the COVID-19 guidelines and to comply with the local authority's screening requirements. Indian Regular Visa Fee

You will pay your fee depending on the type of Visa and its duration. Depending on the case, the Visa fees are divided into various types; basic fee, processing fee by outsourcing agency, special fee.

The basic fee shall be displayed at the end of the process. The final fee should be charged when submitting the application depending on the respective country, and the fees displayed will be indicative.

The fee is non-refundable even after withdrawing the visa application, if Visa is not issued, if the Visa issued is for a shorter time than you have applied for, returned, or on terms and conditions which from time to time may vary.   • Passport place of issue = (USA) then enter (“USDOS”) or else place of issue = as mentioned in your current passport.
Expiry Date of Passport
  • Enter the date of expiry of passport as mentioned in your current passport.
Applicant’s Details
  • Enter surname as your last name, given name as your first name as mentioned in your current passport.
  • If your name has a suffix such as Jr. or Sr. please mention it in the same manner as mentioned in your current passport.
Duration of Visa
  • Each visa category has a different duration.
  • Your fees may change because the fees are different for different visa types and duration.
Visa Type
  • Please be sure about the purpose of your visit to India and select your Visa type accordingly.
  • Selecting the wrong visa type may result in rejection of your application.
Email Address
  • Please provide a proper email address that is reachable. Avoid putting the email address of your agent.
  • The Indian Consulate may need to contact you on your registered email address regarding your Indian Visa Application.

  • You cannot leave the ‘reference in India’ field blank. Your reference in India can be your first hotel where you intend to visit.
  • For Business travelers, contact should match as given in the Business introduction letter.
  • The reference address for India should show the complete city address.
