Recently, the Government of India has removed travel restrictions for a significant number of additional countries. The latest updates reveal that citizens from 166 Eligible Countries for Indian e-Visa can now conveniently apply for an e-visa online. While e-visa services were temporarily halted for all countries during the COVID-19 pandemic, they were subsequently reinstated with eligibility initially limited to 156 countries. However, this number has now been expanded to 166, presenting new avenues for international explorers.

The eligibility criteria for Indian e-Tourist visa are -

International travelers who are looking for visiting India for recreation, sightseeing, visit to meet friends/relatives for the short duration.

  • Passport must have at least six months validity from the date of arrival in India.
  • The passport should have at least two blank pages for stamping by the immigration officer once you arrive in India as your visa on arrival is being processed.

As a traveler, you need to have sufficient money to spend as well as a return ticket or onward journey ticket during your stay in India. Sometimes, you will be required to prove this. Also, planning yourself accordingly reduces the chances of unnecessary struggle in a foreign land.

Some special clauses for some individuals and nationals worth consideration. Validity and catagries of India e-tourist visa as from September 2019

The good news is, the Indian government updated the e-tourist visa policies and categories e-tourist visa to promote tourism in India for all eligible countries. As such, the validity of Indian e-Visa for Tourism will be 30 Day, 1 year, and 5 years. Also, Double & Multiple entries are permitted for Indian e-Tourist Visa.

  • Indian 5 years e-Tourist Visa / Indian 05 years ( 60 months ) e-TV
    • 05 years e-tourist visa valid for 05 years / 60 Months from the date of grant of ETA.
    • Multiple entries within these 05 years are allowed.
    • The holder of 05 years e-Tourist Visa may stay in India for 90 days during each stay.
    • But for USA, UK, Canada and Japan continuous stay during each visit shall not exceed 180 days.

  • Indian 1 years e-Tourist Visa / Indian 1 years ( 12 months ) e-TV
    • 01 years e-tourist visa validity will be 01 years / 12 Months from the date of grant of ETA.
    • Allow foreign tourists multiples entries.

    • Visa Validity period is 30 days from the date of first arrival in India.
    • Allow foreign tourists Double Entries with non-extendable and non-convertible.

What is 30 days e-Tourist Visa Validity?

A 30 days e-Tourist Visa ETA validity is 30 Days from the date of grant.

Once the applicant arrives in India, He/She can stay up to 30 days in India. Allow foreign tourists to double entries within these 30 days. These 30 days start from the date of the first arrival in India (When you come to India).

Example: If 30 days ETA granted on 15 November 2021, applicant can enter India before 14 December 2021 any date. If he/she will arrive in India at 25 November 2021, he/she can stay in India until 24 December 2021.

Documents Required for Indian e-Tourist Visa

For a successful application and acquisition of the e-tourist visa, you will need to upload a clear and colored scanned copy of the Passport in PDF, JPG or PNG format which is not more than 3MB in size. Otherwise, the system will reject that copy.

You will also a colored passport-sized photograph of you that was taken recently. Its size should not be more than 3MB. The background should be white for clarity of the image.

Indian e-Tourist Visa Fees

You need to pay two types of fees for Indian Tourist e-Visa, Indian Government e-Visa Fee and Visa Service Fee. The Service fee is charged for helping you to get e-Visa as rapid as possible. Government fee is charged by the policy of the Government of India.

Kindly Note: Both types of India e-Visa service fees are non-refundable as it is for the process of the application form. If you make a mistake in the process of applying and you have to repeat the process, you will afresh. That is why you should ensure you fill in the forms accordingly.
