What is the difference between India e-Visa and a traditional India Visa?

  • For “The traditional Indian Visa” visitors can only avial it, through the Embassy or Consulate. The process involved to get a traditional Indian Visa is much more time consuming with many physical documentation work (need to submit your original passport along with your visa application, financial and residence statements through mail, visa need to approved with stamped inside the physical passport). In traditional Indian visa visitors can stay in India for maximum ninety 90 days.
  • The Electronic Visa eTV ( e-Tourist, e-Business, e-Medical ) applicants need to fill online application, this process is much easier and fast, you got confirmation of your visa application through email, After submitting payments / fees, the applicant will receive a reference number through which you can track the progress of your application. If the visa application is approved, the applicant will receive the e-visa through an email which is sent to applicant registered email id. The applicants are advised to take a print out of the e-Visa and carry it during the travel. If the visa application is rejected, the visa fee will not refunded.

W.e.f April 2017, the e-Visa is accepted in 24 different international airports in India as well as 3 Seaports. The e-Visa also allows visitors in India for up to 60 consecutive days. It has also get changed to a double-entry visa, enter India twice with the same visa.
